Minutes of PI District 1 & 2

Like all of A.A., the primary purpose of members involved with Public Information service is to carry the A.A. message to the alcoholic who still suffers. Working together, members of local Public Information committees convey A.A. information to the general public, including the media.

Minutes of PI District 1 & 2

This is what we have accomplished over last year and a half. We would be happy to assist or share our experience.

March 2015
Discussions about PSAs with Eastlink and Global begin.

April 2015
Members of the Committee made a presentation on A.A. on April 22nd and 23rd 2015. To the 811 Health Information Help Line.
Address stamps for AA literature were ordered.
Naturopath was supplied with AA literature for the waiting room.
A survey of libraries was done; most had the Big Book. Those that did not were given one.
May 2015
The Bus ads begin appearing on some buses. Increase anticipated and discussions continuing.
The Committee conducted a District 1 & 2 Workshop on the purpose and work of the PI Committee.
June 2015
Stamps are being distributed to interested A.A. groups.

July 2015
Halifax Transit agreed to have PSA Boards on buses quarterly.
811 Help Line in contact with PI to arrange for medical students to attend AA meeting. They were advised they could attend any open meeting and given a meeting list.
August 2015
Budget discussed and approved.
Development of pamphlet for Doctors Offices continues.
September 2015
Pamphlets for Doctors Offices ordered.
Directory of all Medical Clinic obtained, plan for distribution auctioned.
Kits assembled and stamped with local info by PI committee.
October 2015
Distributed pamphlets in one clinic, permission for an additional ten medical clinics and 8 Guardian Drug Stores. (Bedford and Sackville Area)
Doctors and Staff of one Clinic given a presentation on A.A.
November 2015
500 additional pamphlets ordered.
Presentation for the professionals at the Focus Clinics and Guardian pharmacies followed up by CPC Committee.
Eastlink PSA moves forward on Channel 10 cable and a possible spot with the program emceed by Doctor Gillis.
December 2015
Committee did not meet however things moved forward.
The Public Services Announcements airing with Eastlink Cable commenced December 11, 2015, and will continue according to Eastlink scheduling.
Discussion about the Public Service Announcement being adapted with Help Line and Web Site address for the monitors in the Waiting rooms of the Medical Clinics begins.
Planning of A.A. notices for community notice boards and a range of commercial outlets begins.
Discussion about business cards begins.
January 2016
Public Services are on air with Eastlink. (Aired on Dec 14, 18, 31 and January 6.) Aired throughout Nova Scotia and PEI.
CD for Monitors in waiting rooms in medical clinics and doctors’ offices is ready.
Discussion about providing information to first responders such as the Police and the Emergency Health Service begin.
Feb 2016
Spreadsheet to keep track of clinic created.
CTV Atlantic contact established.
Business cards move forward.
Thank you letters written out for participating doctors' offices and clinic carrying the pamphlets.
March 2016
TV PSA contact with Eastlink, CTV, CBC and Global continue.
Contact made with radio stations.
April 2016
Halifax Regional Health Authority contacted. Distribution of A.A. literature to QE II, Dartmouth General, Cobequid Medical Centre, Addiction Service Centres, etc. discussed.
First Responders project going forward PI and CPC in coordination for training.
Area 82 have requested PI and CPC committee for a workshop on May 12,2016.
Contact established with Vice President for C100, Atlantic CTV and Bounce for PSA.
Thirteen clinics are presently agreeing to distribution of pamphlets.
Participation in the Area 82 Website Forum for exchange of information between PI Committees in Area 82 underway.
Summary
Halifax Transit PSA Boards well in hand.
Thirteen Clinic and 8 Guardian Drug Stores agreeing to distribution of Pamphlets. Pamphlets' well stocked.
TV PSA contact with Eastlink, CTV, CBC and Global continue. With PSAs already aired on Dec 14, 18, 31 and January 6. Eastlink on Channel 10 cable.

that's a tremendous accomplishment, I had no idea so much was being done carry the message.
